Texture,
Like footprints
Marking time,
Rippling across space,
Leaving paths that
Memory can trace.
Forms hard,
Layered shapes
The present yields what the
Past creates.
As a jewelry-maker, I am interested in the intuitive process of transforming metal from a glossy, unmarred surface into a multi-layered form, rich with texture and history. The marks upon the surface of each piece reminisce of its unique journey. Preferring to accentuate the raw beauty of metal, my work is brought to an acid and brass-brush finish, rather than a high-polish sheen. Hammers, fire, and pressure, shape each piece to create a unique expression of beauty evolved from hardship.
